Call for Applications: EU-PH Youth Sounding Board

The EU Delegation to the Philippines is pleased to open the Call for Applications for the 1st edition of the European Union-Philippines Youth Sounding Board (YSB).

Background
Underlining the importance of engaging and empowering young people, the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen launched in 2021 the 1st cohort of the EU Youth Sounding Board (YSB). The Youth Sounding Board served as a platform for chosen young people all over the world to advise on EU policies related to youth participation and empowerment. Aside from being an advisory board to the Directorate General of International Partnership, the EU YSB is also mandated to implement and disseminate the EU Youth Action Plan.

The EU Youth Action Plan (2022-2027) is the first EU policy framework for a strategic partnership with young people around the world. It is a result of extensive consultations with various stakeholders, of course, including youth organisations. The 1st cohort of the EU YSB has also been heavily involved in the consultation of this Youth Action Plan.

Three pillars of action of the EU Youth Action Plan:

  1. Partnership to engage: increasing young people’s voices in policy and decision-making
  2. Partnership to empower: fighting inequalities and providing young people with the skills and tools they need to thrive
  3. Partnership to connect: fostering opportunities for young people to network and exchange with their peers worldwide

Overall, the goal of the Youth Action Plan is to shape EU’s external actions in partnership with young people – making EU actions more participatory, relevant and effective for young people in partner countries.

The EU-PH Youth Sounding Board will mainly serve as:

  • Sector advisory board of the EU Delegation on the design and implementation of development cooperation initiatives, ensuring that youth’s concerns are integrated.
