95 Philippine HEIs recoginzed at the ICONS Awards 2024

Pasay City, Philippines – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) celebrated the achievements of 95 Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) at the Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2024 held at the Philippine International Convention Center on December 16, 2024.

The awards recognized HEIs and education leaders for their outstanding contributions to internationalization and sustainability.

“We applaud institutions who lead in promoting internationalization and elevating their global reputation,” emphasized CHED Chairman Dr. J. Prospero De Vera III. “Their dedication and persistent efforts have been instrumental in showcasing the capabilities of Philippine higher education on the global platform. They are truly ICONS of Philippine higher education.”

Internationalization (IZN) Award Winners:

  • Global Citizenship Awards:
    • SUC/LUC: Central Bicol State University
      1st Runner Up: Nueva Vizcaya State University
      2nd Runner Up: Cebu Normal University
    • Private: San Pedro College
      1st Runner Up: St. Louis University
      2nd Runner Up: Lyceum Northwestern University -The Global Citizenship Program
  • Outstanding International Education Program Awards:
    • SUC/LUC: Mariano Marcos State University
      1st Runner Up: Davao Del Norte State College
      2nd Runner Up: Central Bicol State University of Agriculture
    • Private: Panpacific University
      1st Runner Up: Trinity University of Asia
      2nd Runner Up: Far Eastern University NRMF
  • Emerging Leadership Award: Dr. Mee Jay Domingo (Mariano Marcos State University)

The awards ceremony also recognized HEIs with commendable performance in international rankings, such as the Times Higher Education (THE) World/Asia/ Impact Rankings, Quacquarelli Symmonds (QS) Rankings, and World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).

The ICONS Awards 2024 served as a platform for HEIs to network, foster collaborations, and strengthen international partnerships.
